Charles J. Bivona, 71 passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Holy Cross Church, Harrison, NJ at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Bivona was born in Kearny and lived in Harrison for many years before returning to Kearny 20 years ago.

Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968.

He was employed as a Carpenter for Carpenters Local 6 in North Bergen, NJ for 30 years retiring 20 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen (nee Alday); four children, Angela Alday, Cynthia O’Hara, and Christopher and Charles Bivona. He was the grandfather of Michael and Shannon Pfleger, Nick, Alexandra, Joseph and Samantha Bivona and Brian Stambaugh and Jillian O’Hara.
