Obituary
William Thomas Donoghue, 65, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Complete Care at Barn Hill in Newton, NJ after a long illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, August 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday morning, August 8 at 9:00 a.m. then to St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny where a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Cremation will be private.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Bill later lived in Harrison and Kearny for more than three decades before retiring to Byram Township, NJ in 2021.
He worked for most of his career as a Service Director in various car dealerships.
He was an avid sports fan supporting the New York Islanders, New York Mets and the Minnesota Vikings.
Mr. Donoghue was predeceased by his parents, William and Joanne (nee Murray) Donoghue and his beloved stepdaughter, Jill Carlin.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee Forest) Donoghue, children, Ryan Lilla (Angelo), Megan Donoghue, and Kathleen Fearns (Michael). Bill was the brother of Michael Donoghue (Rose), Kathleen Donoghue (Jim Halloway), Joanne Reading (Matt), Daniel Donoghue (Deb), Richard Donoghue, Ticia Irvine (John), Marie Donoghue, timothy Donoghue and Judy Peyrouton (George). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Tammy, Tracy, Allison, their spouses and children for their countless acts of kindness and support and to his beloved cocker spaniel, Sammy.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Humane Society of Bergen County in Lyndhurst, NJ http://humanesocietybergen.org where Sammy was adopted from or to the ASPCA.
