Vangie Figueroa (née Alvarado), 79, passed away peacefully at home in North Arlington, New Jersey, on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Friday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Newark at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.
Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, Vangie moved to Newark, New Jersey, over sixty years ago and spent the last ten years living in North Arlington. She dedicated many years of service as a School Aide with the Newark Public Schools, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and devotion to helping children.
Vangie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, strength, and unconditional love touched everyone who knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Carmelo L. Figueroa; her children, Luis R. Figueroa and Marelys Figueroa; her cherished grandchildren, Evadne, Alexis, Alexa, and Max Figueroa; her brothers, Angel, Minio, and Zolio Alvarado; and her sisters, Marta and Ana Alvarado.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Alex X. Figueroa.
Her memory will live forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
