Sergio M. Quezada, Sr., un esposo querido, padre devoto y apasionado músico, falleció pacíficamente el 10 de febrero de 2024 en el Hospital St. Michael en Newark, NJ, rodeado de su amada familia. Nacido en Macará, Ecuador, Sergio emigró a los Estados Unidos, donde construyó una vida rica y plena.

 

Sergio fue un hombre trabajador, dedicando muchos años como maestro en su tierra natal, Ecuador, antes de emigrar a Nueva Jersey. Continuó su labor, trabajando como obrero en Kearny Smelting & Refining Co. antes de embarcarse en una jubilación gozosa. Durante este tiempo, encontró la felicidad tras el volante como taxista para Classic Livery en Kearny, aprovechando la oportunidad para conectarse con su comunidad.

 

En 1998, Sergio asumió un papel crucial como Presidente del Centro Social Loja de New Jersey (CSL-NJ), un club social que apoya a la comunidad Lojana-Ecuatoriana en Newark. Después de dos mandatos como presidente, dejó una huella indeleble en la organización. Incluso después de su mandato presidencial, siguió siendo un firme defensor del Centro Social Loja, contribuyendo al vibrante tejido de la comunidad Lojana-Ecuatoriana.

 

Un hombre de familia de principio a fin, Sergio celebró 52 años de matrimonio con su amada esposa, Ela Quezada. Juntos, crearon un hogar lleno de amor para sus hijos: Pablo Quezada (Rita), Silvana Quezada (José), Sergio Quezada, Jr. y Yanina Quezada (Fernando). Sergio deja un legado de amor, bondad y apoyo inquebrantable.

 

La pasión de Sergio por la música, en particular su hábil interpretación de la guitarra, llenaba de alegría a quienes lo rodeaban. Su entusiasmo por crear hermosas melodías fue un testimonio de su espíritu vibrante y alma creativa.

 

Sergio fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Gabriel y María Quezada. Le sobreviven su querida esposa, Ela Quezada, sus adorados hijos y sus nietos: Kenneth, Sharon, Pablo, Raphael, Gabriel, Christopher y Sergio III. Su memoria también será apreciada por sus hermanos: María, Edita, Manuel, Segundo, Vicente y Melanio.

 

Familiares y amigos están invitados a rendir homenaje durante la visita en la Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home (585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny) de 4 a 8 PM el martes 13 de febrero de 2024. Una Misa Funeral en honor a la vida de Sergio se celebrará en la Iglesia Católica Romana de San Miguel (172 Broadway, Newark) a las 11 AM el miércoles 14 de febrero de 2024.

Sergio M. Quezada, Sr., a cherished husband, devoted father, and passionate musician, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2024, at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Macará, Ecuador, Sergio migrated to the United States, where he built a rich and fulfilling life.

 

Sergio was a hardworking man, dedicating many years as a teacher in his homeland, Ecuador, before immigrating to New Jersey. He continued his work, laboring as an employee at Kearny Smelting & Refining Co. before embarking on a joyous retirement. During this time, he found happiness behind the wheel as a cab driver for Classic Livery in Kearny, embracing the opportunity to connect with his community.

 

In 1998, Sergio took on a pivotal role as the President of Centro Social Loja of New Jersey (CSL-NJ), a social club supporting the Lojan-Ecuadorian community in Newark. Serving two terms as president, he left an indelible mark on the organization. Even after his presidential tenure, he remained a steadfast supporter of Centro Social Loja, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of the Lojan-Ecuadorian community.

 

A family man through and through, Sergio celebrated 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ela Quezada. Together, they created a loving home for their children: Pablo Quezada (Rita), Silvana Quezada (Jose), Sergio Quezada, Jr., and Yanina Quezada (Fernando). Sergio leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support.

 

Sergio's passion for music, particularly his skillful guitar playing, brought joy to those around him. His enthusiasm for creating beautiful melodies was a testament to his vibrant spirit and creative soul.

 

Sergio was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Maria Quezada. He is survived by his cherished wife, Ela Quezada, his adoring children, and his grandchildren: Kenneth, Sharon, Pablo, Raphael, Gabriel, Christopher, and Sergio III. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: Maria, Edita, Manuel, Segundo, Vicente, and Melanio.

 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home (585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny) from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. A Funeral Mass in honor of Sergio's life will be celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church (172 Broadway, Newark) at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

 

The interment of cremated remains will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Saturday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. Block 10, Section D, Tier A, Grave 43.

 

Sergio M. Quezada, Sr. will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and the beautiful music that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
