Samuel Patrick Tarrant, III died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 2, 2021, in Alaris at Belgrove, Kearny, NJ
Born in Washington Heights, New York on January 18th, 1932. He was raised in Jersey City, NJ. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was stationed in Austria during the Korean War. Samuel graduated from Montclair State University in 1958 with a degree in teaching. He married his wife Josephine (Mofsie) in 1954. Together they had five children. He married his second wife Victoria Yellow Wolf in 1980 and they had three daughters. He was a resident of Kearny, New Jersey for over 40 years. He was a marvelous silversmith. He enjoyed reading books and the newspaper daily. He loved listening to Irish and pow-wow music. He was a member of the County Cork pipe band and a founding member of the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers. He was loved by all.
He is survived by his brother William Tarrant. His children Donald Tarrant, Judy Fields, William Tarrant, Margaret Tarrant, Kathleen Tarrant, and Patricia Tarrant. He is preceded in death by his parents Samuel Patrick Tarrant and Margaret (Brown) Tarrant, his wives Josephine Tarrant and Victoria Tarrant, siblings Margaret Kavanagh, Patricia Boehringer, John Tarrant, children Kenneth Tarrant, Michael Tarrant, Kevin Tarrant. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, sixteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Friday, March 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will be private.
