Ruth Naomi Vala

VALA, Ruth N., 92, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022, with her sister Naomi by her side. Ruth is survived by her sisters, Martha Hiles of Cliff Wood Beach and Naomi Callaghan of Kearny. Preceded in death by her siblings, Flavian Vala, Rose Verile, Joseph Vala, Anna Marshall, and Sam Vala; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly. Throughout her life, Ruth touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all.  Ruth worked in New York City for many years as an administrative assistant in the garment district. After many years of commuting back and forth, she decided working closer to home would be better for her, and she was employed by Star-Ledger for several years before retiring. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, September 16^th, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. when a Celebration of Ruth’s life will take place at the Thiele – Reid Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, NJ at 5:30 p.m., officiated by her nephew Fr. Tom Vala. In lieu of flowers contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to the Human Society
