Roy DeMauro, 59, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home in Lyndhurst, NJ after a heroic battle with cancer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, February 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. The doors will be open at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
He was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Kearny for most of his life before moving to Lyndhurst 5 years ago.
Roy was employed as a Maintenance Facilitator United Airlines in Newark, NJ for the last 26 years.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. His chapter met at Trinity Episcopal Church in Kearny for the last 30 years. He was the author of True Blue Friend, a book detailing his personal battle of overcoming drug and alcohol addiction.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy DellaFera, his mother, Janice (nee Steinback) DeMauro, two sons, Roy J. DeMauro and Kevin R. DeMauro; two siblings, Andy and Diane DeMauro and two grandchildren, Roy James “R.J.” DeMauro and Kaylee DeMauro.
Roy was predeceased by his father, Richard and brother, Richie.
