Ronald J. Sawyer

Ronald J. Sawyer, 86, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, August 24 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Church, Kearny at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the funeral home on Monday, August 23 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Ron was born in Jersey City, NJ, and raised in Harrison, NJ before moving to Kearny at age 18.

He was employed as the Transportation Coordinator for Henkel Chemical at 1^st & Essex Street in Harrison for forty years before retiring in 1997.

St. Cecilia Church was very important to Mr. Sawyer. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered in the Food Pantry and at BINGO, and also counted the money collected at Mass.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily (nee Dutka) Sawyer, one sister, Loretta Korzon, and one brother, Clifford Sawyer. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and cousins and many wonderful friends.

Ronald was predeceased by his siblings, Veronica McErlean, Leo James Sawyer, and Donald Sawyer.

 He was an all-around good guy who will be missed by so many.
