Roger O. Maccagnano, 70, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian, Florida.
The funeral service will be held in the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Thursday, March 10 at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Roger lived in Hoboken, NJ Union City, NJ, Jersey City, and Nutley, NJ. He has lived in Sebastian for the last two years.
Mr. Maccagnano served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 until 1973 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.
He was a metal polisher for Stuart Dean Company in Queens, NY for 40 years before retiring eight years ago.
Roger was a member and former Commandant of the Marine Corps League, West Hudson Detachment in Kearny as well as a volunteer during 9/11.
He is survived by his companion, Julia Manning, one sister, Robin Healy (John), and one brother, Father Ernest Rush. He was the uncle of, Jessica Fairchild (Justin), Arielle Petrusic (Mato), Stephen Cucchiara (Sarah) as well as Jacqueline, Wendy, Shannon, Megan, Tammy, and John, and great-uncle to Maya, Madelyn, Alyssa, and Madison. He also leaves behind several grandkids, Emilio, Matthew, Michael, Tristan, and Willow.
Mr. Maccagnano was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (nee Cavanagh) Maccagnano, one brother, Kenneth Michael Maccagnano and one sister, Yolanda “Sissie” Kolb.
