Rogelio Gomez

Rogelio Gomez was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. We lost his beautiful soul on Thursday, April 21, 2022, in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ. He will always be remembered for his kind loving heart, loyalty to his family, and his generosity towards everyone he met.  

 

The funeral will be held at Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny NJ on Tuesday, April 26 at 9:000 a.m. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, Harrison, NJ at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, April 25th from 4 to 8 p.m.

 

Born in Mayanca, Spain, Rogelio Gomez immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived in Newark, NJ. He later moved to Harrison and has lived there since 1974.

 

Rogelio was a Longshoreman for the International Longshoremen's Association and New York Shipping Association at Port Newark, NJ for 21 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the I.L.A. Local 1235 and Local 1278. Mr. Gomez was also a member of the Orensano Social Club in Newark.

 

He is survived by his wife, Fina (nee Pena Zapata) Gomez, two daughters, Maria Garcia and her husband Pablo, and Carmen McAdam and her husband Paul, three sisters, Chiruca Hooper, Carmen Sanchez, and Elvira Franzi. Rogelio was the grandfather of David and Rogelio Garcia and Cristina, Caroline, Rebecca and Paul McAdam and great-grandfather of Nicolas Garcia.
