Pietro Giglio, 89, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in South Mountain Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Vauxhall, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Sunday, March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aedan’s: The Saint Peters University Church, 800 Bergen Avenue, Jersey City, NJ on Monday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Weehawken Cemetery, North Bergen, NJ.
Born in Adrano, Sicily, Italy, Pietro immigrated to the United States in 1965 with his family and lived in Brooklyn, NY and then Secaucus, NJ before moving to Union City, NJ in 1968. He returned to Secaucus in 2017.
Mr. Giglio and his wife Angela owned and operated Pietro Giglio Custom Tailoring in Union City for thirty-two years. Pietro also worked as a master tailor for designer Calvin Klein in the 1990s.
He is survived by two sons, Carmelo Giglio and Giuseppe (Joe) Giglio, and his wife, Nora Gelperin. He also leaves behind his grandson, Dylan J. Giglio.
Pietro was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Angela (nee Grisiglione) Giglio, who passed on December 31, 2021. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Carmelo Giglio and Filippo Giglio and a sister, Margherita Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Jesuit Refugee Service. As a child, Pietro survived the bombing and occupation of his hometown during World War II. JRS is helping today’s victims in Europe and around the world. https://jrs.net/en/donate/
