Patrick McAteer Obituary

Patrick T. McAteer, 57, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Born and raised in Kearny, New Jersey, Patrick spent much of his life rooted in the community he loved before moving to Morganville twenty years ago. He was the proud owner and operator of Artus Trucking in Kearny and a dedicated member of the United Irish of Kearny, where he celebrated his deep Irish heritage and lifelong friendships.

Patrick was a man of extraordinary passion—no one worked harder, played harder, fought harder, or loved harder. He carried an unmatched energy and spirit into every room he entered. His love for life was fueled by his devotion to his faith, his family, and his roots. Through his involvement in football as a player, sponsor, and coach, he touched countless lives, both on and off the field. Patrick also had a profound passion for dog training, mixed martial arts, and music. Everything he pursued, he did with intensity, purpose, and heart. His impact on others—whether lifelong friends or those he had just met—was lasting and meaningful. His strength, kindness, and passion will never be forgotten.

Above all, Patrick’s greatest pride and joy were his children. He is survived by his beloved son, Patrick, and his cherished daughter, Brooke, who held a special place in his heart and shared an unbreakable bond with their father. He was endlessly proud of them. He is also survived by their mother, Doriann Durkin-McAteer.

Patrick leaves behind his loving sister, Sandra English (Stephen); his devoted girlfriend, Desiree Stevens and her children; and many cherished cousins, nephews, and extended family members who will continue to carry his memory forward.  He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Ann Marie (Hiltz) McAteer.

His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the family he loved so fiercely. To quote his favorite band, “We get to carry each other”… his love and our memories of him are what will continue to carry us forward.
