Marianne Restaino

Marianne Restaino, 69, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at home in Belleville, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Friday, May  from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, May 6 in the funeral home then to St. Lucy’s Church, Newark, NJ where a Funeral Mass will celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.

Born in Newark, Marianne lived in Bloomfield, NJ for many years before moving to Belleville thirty years ago. She was an avid lover of music and dance, especially tap.  She owned and operated her own dancing school, “The Dance Factory”, where she passed this love along to so many students who remember her fondly to this day.  Later, she owned and operated Salon La’ Ria in Little Falls, NJ, where she did nails while offering advice and lending an ear to all her loyal clients, who stayed true to her for many years.

“Miss” Marianne touched so many lives throughout her lifetime, through her successful business ventures and larger-than-life personality.  There wasn’t a tab she didn’t pick up or a time she didn’t show up with Dunkin in hand for all.  She also loved to cook for her family and many friends, most especially “pizzagaina”, which everyone looked forward to every Easter. 

She charmed everyone who met her, especially children and animals.  A fighter through and through, if she loved you, she would fight hard with you, but even harder for you.

Ms. Restaino is survived by her daughter, Maria Cerino, her niece and goddaughter, Lisa Cesareo, her aunt, Marie Zoppi, her “rock” and source of strength, Joseph Lubertazzi and his daughter, Diana, and her sister-in-law and friend, Linda Cerino.

She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Sophia, Cookilina, Vida, and Valentina, and her cat, Queenie.
