Madge T. Dargan (nee McGrath) passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 (her 82nd birthday) at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.
The funeral will be held at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Thursday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. Condolences and memories may also be shared at thiele-reid.com.
Mrs. Dargan was born in Greenock, Scotland. She immigrated to this country in 1962 and lived in Manhattan, the Bronx and then Brooklyn before moving to Kearny in 1973. She was a proud and active member of the Scottish and Irish communities in town.
Madge was a secretary for the Salvation Army in Union, NJ for 20 years before retiring. She previously worked at King Tours and Cunard Lines. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Social Concerns Committee at St. Stephen’s Church.
Madge was predeceased by her husband, George Dargan, in 2015. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Waller (Jeff), Maria Masino (Phil), Brenda Dargan-Levy (Shirley) and Madge Dargan (Pete) and her beloved grandchildren, Ceili and Fiona Waller, Sean and Cara Masino and Eden and Joni Dargan-Levy.
