Louis Colando, Jr.

Louis Colando, Jr., 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, December 6 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ at a later date.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Colando lived in Lyndhurst before moving to Kearny in 1970.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1957. He later earned his B.S. in Political Science from U.C.L.A.

He worked in the Insurance business for Idone Insurance in New York City for many years.

Louis is survived by his wife, Rose Marie (nee Koweski) Colando, two children, John Colando and Christina Crovetto, and her husband, Jorge. He was the brother of Marie Colando and Jeanne Flaherty and her husband, Gary, and brother-in-law of Eleanor Matusz. Mr. Colando also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
