Lidia (Castro) Gallo

Lidia Gallo, (nee Castro), 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at home in Kearny, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Thursday, July 8 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale and Rosehill Cemetery, Linden, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the funeral home on Wednesday, July 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Born in Havana, Cuba Mrs. Castro immigrated to the United States in 1977 and lived in Yonkers, NY. She later moved to Elizabeth, NJ before moving to Kearny in 1995.

She was a Coordinator for Proceed, Inc. in Elizabeth, NJ for 34 years before retiring.

Mrs. Gallo was a member of Federacion de la Accion Catolica Cubana in Union City, NJ.

Lidia is survived by two daughters, Lidia C. Gallo and Ana Cardoso (Fernando) and one son, Juan Gallo (Patricia), and one sister, Emelina Corripio. She was the grandmother of Samantha Castro, Steven Cardoso, Juan Aguayo, and Isabella Aguayo.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ortelio Gallo in 1994.
