Leonidas Balatsos, 95, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the Job Haines Home, Bloomfield, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 250 Gallows Hill Road, Westfield, NJ on Tuesday, December 17 beginning at 10:15 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
Born in Worchester, MA, Mr. Balatsos has lived in Kearny for the last sixty-eight years.
Leo served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 until 1953.
He was a Firefighter for the Town of Kearny for thirty-seven years and retired as a Deputy Chief in 1995.
Leonidas was a proud member of the Kearny F.M.B.A. Local 18/218.
Mr. Balatsos is survived by one daughter, Alexandra Zazanis and her husband, John and one son, James Balatsos and his wife, Michele and one sister, Mary Bouzoukas.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Hall) Balatsos, and two brothers, Spiros Balatsos and James Balatsos.
