Julio Gomes

Julio Gomes, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive on Tuesday, September 27 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Newark, NJ at 10: 00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday, September 26 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Born in Venade, Peredes De Coura, Portugal, Julio immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived in Newark. He moved to North Arlington in 1988.

Julio was a Chef and owned and operated Mallorca Restaurant in Passaic, NJ from 1987 until 1994. Prior he was a Chef at Don Pepe Restaurant in Newark.

Mr. Gomes is survived by his children, Mr. Carlos Gomes, (Grace) and Mrs. Susie Fernandes, (Luis), one sister, Augusta Fernandes and four grandchildren, Alexia and Victoria Gomes and Emily and David Fernandes.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Linda (Rodrigues) Gomes on August 18, 2022, one daughter, Maria Isabel Gomes (9 months old) and one sister, Dorinda Alves on July 13, 2022.
