Joseph E. Olivier, Sr., 76, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Olivier has lived in Kearny for the last 27 years.

He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lexington during the Vietnam War.

Joseph worked for Hudson County, NJ as a Parks Supervisor for 37 years before retiring.

He was the original drummer for the band Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.

Mr. Olivier is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Perratt) Olivier, three children, Muriel Donofrio, Joseph Olivier, and Michael Olivier, three step-children, Mary Kennedy, Anthony Ruttler, and Matthew Ruttler, and one sister, Joanne Bursack. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Joseph was predeceased by his two daughters, Michele Olivier and Yvonne Olivier, and one step-son, Christopher Ruttler.

Mr. Olivier's final act was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

Cremation is private.
