Joseph Boyer Obituary

Joseph C. Boyer, “Bud”, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in The Country Home, Morris Plains, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Saturday, January 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. then to Saint Clare R.C. Church, Clifton where an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Bud moved to Kearny in 1959 where he lived before moving to Clifton in 1997. He has lived in Morris Plains for the last three years.

Joseph honorably served his country in United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1957 and then in the United Sates Navy Reserves from 1957 until 1962.

Mr. Boyer was a Tool & Die Specialist at Vulcan tool Company for sixty years before retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League of West Hudson in Kearny.

Bud is survived by his wife, Margaret (Zanor) Boyer, two daughters, Eileen Phillips (David), Kim Boyer, one son, John Boyer (Dawn), one step-son Robert Kenney (Kristen) and one step-daughter, Mary Lynn Dunne (Patrick).  He also leaves seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley E. (Brown) Boyer and one sister, Joan Jones.
