Jorge G. Penaherrera

Jorge G. Penaherrera, 83, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, in Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Saturday, December 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Born in Pujili, Ecuador, Mr. Penaherrera immigrated to the United States in 1965 and lived in New York City. He later lived in Newark, NJ then West New York, NJ before moving to Kearny seventeen years ago.

Mr. Penaherrera was a factory worker at Meer Corporation in Fort Lee, NJ for several years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Maria (Enriquez) Penaherrera, two sons, Herbert Penaherrera, and Danny Penaherrera, two sisters, Ines Ramirez and Elena Penaherrera, four grandchildren, Carlos, Katherine, Thomas and Francisco and two great-grandchildren Benjamin and Lukas.

Jorge realized a dream of a lifetime when he arrived in Qatar on November 18, 2022, and was able to attend 9 World Cup matches. He was at the U.S /Wales match on November 21st and later attended many of the Ecuador and Brazil matches.  He was so proud to support his home country of Ecuador.
