Jorge V. Gonzalez

Jorge V. Gonzalez, 76, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 in the Atrium Post Acute Care Center, Livingston, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, July 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.

Jorge was born in Rosario, Argentina to Almerinda (née Donati) and Jorge Gonzalez.  He served his time in the Argentine Army from 1963 - 1964.  He studied Interior Design at The Rosario School of Art.  He was an accomplished athlete competing in Soccer, Volleyball, Rugby and Tennis.  He married Marta Susana Mottino of Arequito, Argentina in 1968 and had two sons, John Martin and Leandro Nicolas. He owned and operated a furniture business in Rosario for six years before emigrating to the United States in 1969.  He first lived in Manhattan Beach, CA before moving to New Jersey in 1970 and eventually settling in Kearny.  He worked in the Tool Purchasing Dept of Homedica Inc. in Rutherford, NJ until his retirement in 2002. After retiring, he traveled with his wife to many places around the world.  He loved being "Nono" to his five grandchildren who adored him; swimming in his pool with them, going to the Poconos or buying them ice cream and taking them to the park.  He went to Kings Court six days a week for over 30 years and called his mother every Sunday.  In his retirement, Jorge enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, having family and friends over for asado (bbq) and good wine, no matter the season, watching soccer and tennis matches, listening to Frank Sinatra and telling stories, especially with Robbie Kenney, who was like another son to him.  He is survived by his mother, Alemrinda, his brother Daniel, sister Alicia Ercole (née Gonzalez), wife, sons, two daughters-in-law, Jutta Marateo-Gonzalez and Christa Joy Di Benedetto and five grandchildren, Giovanni, Arianna, Stefan, Matteo and Amaya.
