John Forrest

John Forrest, 97, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 in the Job Haines Home, Bloomfield, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, March 31 beginning at 9:00 a.m. then to St. Cecilia R.C. Church, Kearny where 10:30 Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Inurnment will be private.

Born in Cork, Ireland, John immigrated to the United States in 1953, following his future wife to Jersey City, NJ before moving to Kearny in 1967. He moved to Whiting, NJ thirty five years ago.

Mr. Forrest, who went by “Jack”, was a Warehouse Supervisor for Winthrop in East Brunswick for many years.

Jack was a devout member of St Cecilia Church and later St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He was a former member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Division 7 in Kearny.

Jack was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fly fishing and golf. He loved to sing, and was always ready with an Irish tune at family gatherings.

Surviving are Jack’s three children, John M. Forrest (Ann Marie), Kathleen Forrest (Glenn Dunwoodie) and Noreen Murray. He was the oldest of nine siblings, Jerry, Daniel, Noel and Michael Forrest and Margaret Collyer, Mary Forrest, Julia Forrest and Joan Rees. Jack was the grandfather of Kevin, Deirdre and Mary Forrest (Nick).

He was predeceased by his wife, Teresa (O’Leary) Forrest.
