Joaquin Hernandez

Joaquin Hernandez, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at home in Livingston, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Thursday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Cecilia Church, Kearny at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Hernandez was born in Manzanillo, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States in 1962 and settled in Newark, NJ. He later moved to Harrison, NJ where he lived before moving to Livingston twenty eight years ago.

Joaquin was employed as a maintenance worker for many years. He began at R.C.A. in Harrison, NJ; then moved to Bristol Myers Squibb in Hillside, NJ. He later worked at ITT in Nutley, NJ before retiring from N.J.I.T. in Newark, NJ in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Angeles (nee Rodriguez) Hernandez; one daughter, Angeles (Angie) Ontaneda and her husband, Carlo and one granddaughter, Gabriela Ontaneda. He was the brother of Jose Antonio Hernandez.

He was predeceased by his sister, Matilde Hernandez and his brother, Manuel Hernandez.
