James A. Kane, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ, on Saturday, September 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. Cremation will be private.
Born in Newark, NJ, James was raised in Kearny and later lived in Union, NJ, before moving to Upstate New York twenty years ago.
Mr. Kane played football at Kearny High School and graduated in 1972.
He served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1973.
James was a Mace Brothers Fine Furniture driver in North Arlington, NJ, for many years.
He is survived by his siblings, Timothy Augustine and his wife, Anna, Sharon Micchelli and her husband, James Roleck, Candace Melillo and Donato and Colleen Colon. James also leaves many nieces and nephews, as well as his cherished friends and caregivers, Mark and Wendy Warren. A special thank you from his family to Marcie Mabee.
Mr. Kane was predeceased by his brother, Patrick Kane, and sister, Patricia Gloria Augustine and his brother-in-law, Miguel Colon.
James will be remembered as an avid Rollin Stones fan and N.Y. Giants football Fan. He loved to fish and always caught the biggest fish on the boat, winning the pool. Playing checkers was a passion, and he always took pride in beating whoever chose to play him. He will be deeply missed by many.
