James A. Gabriele, 84, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Friday, December 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. then to Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ where a 12:45 prayer service will be offered.
Born and raised in Hoboken, NJ, Mr. Gabriele moved to Jersey City, NJ at 30 years of age and lived there until moving to Kearny three years ago.
He served as Traffic Coordinator at Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken for 25 years before retiring in 1992.
After retiring from Maxwell House, James supervised the construction of Columbian Arms, a senior Citizen apartment building built by H.U.D.in 1992 at 514 Madison Avenue in Hoboken. After its completion he managed the building for many years. When the building was later sold, James was the founder and President of Columbian Arms, Inc. and which would distribute proceeds of the sale yearly to many nonprofit organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers, Special Olympics and Pathways to Independence in Kearny just to name a few. This was a responsibility he was very proud of.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Schroeder) Gabriele, four children, Dawn Murray and her husband, Russell, James Gabriele and his partner, Rosalind, Tabitha Gabriele and John Gabriele and one grandson, Russell James Murray.
Mr. Gabriele was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Alfred Gabriele.
