Jack DaCosta

Jack DaCosta, 71, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Saturday, December 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. Cremation Will be private.

Born in Matosinhos, Portugal, Mr. DaCosta immigrated to the United States in 1965 and lived in Harrison, NJ and Kearny before moving to Hillside, NJ in 2003.

Jack was Crossing Guard for the Town of Hillside. Previously, he owned and operated Capelo Flowers and Ironbound Florist both in Newark, NJ and Oporto Florist in Kearny.

Mr. DeCosta was a proud member of Sport Maritimo Murtoense and Sportsman's Hunting Club both of Newark.

He is survived by his children, Jack DaCosta, Jr and his wife, Veronica and Adelina DaCosta, three sisters, Alice Ribeiro, Rosa Ribeiro and Josefina Nogueira, three grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jack DaCosta, III and Derek Cadete.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Emilia (Carvalho) DaCosta, two brothers, Alberto and Antonio DaCosta and one sister, Adozinda Duarte.
