Gertrude Zarnowski

Miss Gertrude Zarnowski, 99, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, in Brookdale Care Center, West Orange, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Cecilia Church, Kearny at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Gertrude was born in Harrison, NJ, and was raised in Oswego, NY. She returned to New Jersey at age 17 and lived in Kearny.

Miss Zarnowski was an Executive Secretary for R.C.A. in New York City and later AT&T. She also worked in the same capacity for U.S. Steel before retiring at age 72.

She was a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers.

Gertrude is survived by several nieces and nephews, Emily Sawyer (Ronald), Bernard Dutka, Frank Zarnowski (Donna), Gloria Kelley, and Teresa Haigney (Steven). She also leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and one great-great-nephew.
