Efrem M. Balin

Mr. Efrem M. Balin, 70, died on March 15, 2021 at University Hospital, Newark, NJ.

Visiting will be held on Friday, March 19 from 4 to 8 pm at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home in Kearny, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 20 at 10 am in Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington, NJ. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. Face masks and social distancing will be required.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Mr. Balin emigrated to the United States around 1980 and lived in Paramus, NJ and Rockland, NY before settling in Kearny, NJ. He worked as a bookkeeper for Golden Platter in Newark, NJ before officially retiring.

Mr. Balin was fond of bowling, playing pool and stock trading.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pio and Ana Balingcongan and siblings, Dr. Estelita Villazor and Dante Balin.

Mr. Balin is survived by his wife, Elvira Balingcongan, two children, Ronald Balin and Cheryl Balin-Orpilla and her husband Celerino Jr. He was the beloved grandfather of Cassandra Orpilla, beloved brother of Mario Balin, Ruben Balin, Oscar Balin, Cely Tay, Avelina Cabral, Eduardo Balin, Susan Venzi and Cesar Balingcongan and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
