Carmen Gloria Velez

Carmen Gloria Velez, 56, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Monday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Newark at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, January 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Carmen lived in Newark her whole life.

She was a Teacher's Assistant for the Newark Board of Education for many years.

Carmen is survived by two daughters, Angelica Isabel Vargas and Eliza Angelique Valentin, one sister, Maria Isabel Velez, and one granddaughter, Serenity Isabel Baksh. She also leaves behind her mother, Gloria Enez (nee Diaz) Velez.

Ms. Velez was predeceased by her father, Rafael Antonio Velez.
