Bolivar Chavez, 88, passed away peacefully at home in Kearny, NJ while surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Tuesday, January 16 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Columba R.C. Church, Newark, NJ. Cremation will be private.
Born in Riobamba, Ecuador, Mr. Chavez immigrated to the United States in 1965 and lived in Newark, NJ. He later lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Kearny eight years ago.
Bolivar was a Industrial Mechanic for Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for 15 years before retiring. Prior, he worked in the same capacity at Juki America in Wayne, NJ for 30 years.
He is survived by two sons, Simon Chavez and James Chavez, one sister Ana Lucia Chavez and one brother, Eduardo Chavez Falconi, grandchildren, Karen Cueva, Richard Chavez, Krystle Galarza, Santiago Chavez, James Chavez, Nicolas Chavez and Camila Chavez. He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Bolivar was predeceased by his wife, Maruja (Lourdes) Chavez and siblings, Angel, Gonzalo, Clara and Beatrize Chavez.
