Barbara (Phillips) Mulligan

Barbara Mulligan, (nee Phillips), 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, August 17 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday, August 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara would spend her summers with family in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. She would later live in Fords, NJ before settling in Kearny in 1969.

Mrs. Mulligan was very active in St. Stephen’s Church. She taught CCD, sang in the church choir, and served as a Eucharistic Minister all for thirty years.

Barbara is survived by her children, Michael Mulligan and his wife, Jacqueline, Jack Mulligan, Maureen Mulligan-Keena and her husband, Scott Kenna, and Robert Mulligan and his wife, Lisa. She was the grandmother of Kathleen Mulligan, Jessica Mulligan, Matthew Mulligan, Michelle Crenny, David Mulligan, Danielle Mulligan Kinney, Alisha Mulligan, Ryan Mulligan, Dylan Mulligan, Sean Mulligan, Kerry Mulligan, Kim Margetis, and Kaci Mulligan. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Devin Mulligan, Icyss Mulligan, Roman Mulligan, Toni Ella Mulligan, Riley Kinney, Avery Kinney, Sadie Kinney, Trevor Farino, William Hendrix, and James Margetis.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Mulligan, and four children, Patricia Mulligan, William Mulligan, Paul Mulligan, and Thomas Mulligan.
