Aristides De Carvalho, 90, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, while surrounded by family at home in Kearny, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Wednesday, June 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Thursday morning, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. then to Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington, NJ were a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Born in Machado, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Aristides immigrated to the United States in 1962 and lived in Newark, NJ, before moving to Kearny in 1979.
Mr. De Carvalho was a laborer for the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Union, Local 472 in Newark for thirty years before retiring twenty-three years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Idalina (nee Separovich) De Carvalho, children, Dr. Sueli Petry and her husband, Karl, Sonia Hensley and her companion, Richard J. Hildebrandt, and Edson De Carvalho and his companion, Shannon Ostoyic, three stepchildren, Roslaine Alves de Castro, Rosaine Alves de Castro, Idalina Paixão, and her husband Ezequiel.
He also leaves five grandchildren, Anthony Pecora, Jr., and his wife Sarah Anastasia, Steven R. Pecora, Lorraine Johnson and her husband Todd, Alexis De Carvalho, and David De Carvalho, five stepgrandchildren, Sheila Separovich Mota, Franco Separovich da Silva, João Victor Separovich Silva, Sarah Paixão, Heitor Paixão and four great-grandchildren Kenna Johnson, Matti Johnson, Stella Catherine Pecora, and Colette Therese Pecora, and one step-great-grandchild Julia Separovich de Castro Morais.
Nieces and nephews Carlos Separovich and his wife Zenilde, Richard Separovich and his wife Jackie, Marcia Separovich, Michael Separovich and his wife Michelle, João Antonio Oliveira, and Marli Oliveira dear friends Cidalia and Tony Matos, Viviana and Faustino Cruz, Angelina de Belli and Adriana Reis La Rosa, and many more caring nieces and nephews and dear friends in the United States and in Brazil.
Aristides was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (nee Separovich) De Carvalho, one grandson, Edson De Carvalho, Jr. and one son-in-law, Gary Hensley.
