Antonio Manuel Madalena

Antonio Manuel Madalena, was born on October 22,1939 passed away on Saturday, August 5,2023 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ after a long battle with cancer.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday August 8th from 4 to 8 pm.

The funeral will be on August 9th at Holy Cross Church, Harrison, NJ at 10:00am, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Born and raised in Ihavo, Aveiro, Portugal, Mr. Madalena lived there until immigrating to the U.S. in 1972 and lived in Newark NJ until moving to Harrison in 1978.

He worked on cod fishing boats in Portugal before arriving in the States where he worked as a laborer for the union local 472 in Newark until his retirement.

Mr. Madalena was a proud member of Centro Romeu Cascais Portuguese American Club. He was very proud to member number 13. There he would watch his favorite soccer team Sporting Lisbon Club.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Maria (Nunes) Madalena and one brother, Joao Jose Madalena.

Mr. Madalena was survived by his wife Laura Madalena, sons Antonio and Jose, grandchildren Brian, Jessica, Christopher, Nicole and Emily. Great grandchild Theo. Daughters-in-law Rosilina and Karla Madalena. His Brothers, Antonio Domingos and Rui Madalena. Stepfather of Dirceu, Cristiane, Elaine and Roberto.

Antonio also leaves many nieces and nephews.
