Agnes (Smith) Catena

Agnes V. Catena (Nee Smith), 81, of Holiday City Carefree Section of Berkeley Township, passed away September 24, 2024, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ, on Saturday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

Agnes lived in Harrison and Kearny, NJ, before moving to Berkeley Township in 2006.  She was a proofreader with Ernst & Young LLC for 26 years, retiring in 2006.

She loved spending time with her 8 grandchildren, Cristina Reiser (Tim Orfield), Mark Reiser, Danielle Lange (Carl Lange), Alyssa Fawsitt (Dylan Fawsitt), Joe DeRocker, Matthew DeRocker, Laura Catena (Patrick Burke), Jennifer Catena, and 7 great-grandchildren, Sienna Lange, Ben Lange, Liam Fawsitt, Rose Fawsitt, William Burke, Montana DeRocker and Logan Reiser.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Catena, Debbie Sharples (Dennis Sharples), and Michele Catena-DeRocker.

Agnes was predeceased by two children, Robert Catena in 1993 and Judith Reiser in 2018.
