Ronald W. Godfrey, 79, passed away on Friday March 24, 2017 at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family  Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Peter Wilkinson officiating.  Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.

Mr. Godfrey was born in Jersey City, NJ and was a lifelong resident of North Arlington, NJ.

He was employed as a Porter at United Parcel Service in Secaucus, NJ and Newark, NJ for 29 years.

Ron was a volunteer at the North Arlington Fire Department, Hose Company 1, for 30 years. He also performed with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Competing Corps for 4 years and also competed with their Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (nee Pettit); two sons, David Godfrey and his fiancé Kathleen Herity and Craig Godfrey; one sister Marilyn Gregoire and her husband Eugene. He was also the uncle of Eugene E. Gergoire, Jr. (Deborah) and Christine Y. Thiel and the great-uncle of Ashley and Rachel Gregoire.
