Lena M. (Zagorini) Mottola

Lena M. Mottola, (nee Zagorini), 93, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Alaris Health at Belgrove, Kearny, NJ.

Mrs. Mottola was born in Kearny and was a lifelong resident.

She was a banquet waitress at the Wayne Manor in Wayne, NJ for 25 years. Previously, Lena worked at  Shop Rite in North Arlington, NJ and Bell Telephone in Newark, NJ. After retirement, She worked for six years at a family-owned campground, doing everything from bundling firewood to working in the general store. Lena became longtime friends with most of her co-workers.

Lena is survived by her loving son, Anthony J. Mottola of Kearny and one daughter, Carmela Gaset of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Carlos, Leeann, Ann Marie, and Joanna and her great-grandson, Dominic. She will be deeply missed by her goddaughter, niece, nephews, cousins and her dear friend, Rosemarie Diani of Clifton, NJ whom she loved like a daughter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Mottola, one sister, Millie Pisani and two brothers, Anthony and Charles Zagorini.

Lena will be remembered as a vibrant, loving and generous woman, with a wonderful sense of humor, who enjoyed life and made friends wherever she went.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Private Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
