John J. O'Callaghan, Jr.

John J. O’Callaghan, Jr., 83, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. Cremation will be private.

Mr. O’Callaghan was born in Newark, NJ and lived most of his life in Harrison, NJ before moving to his son’s home in Kearny in 2013.

He worked for Bell Atlantic/Verizon for 30 years before retiring in 2003.

John was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 2326, Harrison/East Newark where he held many positions.

He is survived by his sons, Fred and wife, Maureen of Kearny, John and wife, Mary of Aiken, S.C. and Daniel Patterson of S. Plainfield, NJ. He was the brother of Gene O'Callaghan and Catherine Brachlow. He was the beloved grandfather of Brianne, Owen, Colleen, Lorelei, Allexis, Allison, Racheal, Chelsea, Sean, Daniel, Kyle, Ryan, Connor and great grandfather to Bryson.

He was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Coranne (nee St. Andrew) O'Callaghan and his parents, John J. Sr. and Gladys (nee White) O’Callaghan.
