Elvira (Gaeta) Cascio

Elvira Cascio, (nee Gaeta), 81, daughter of Edward Gaeta, deceased and Catherine Gaeta (nee Fallon), deceased, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at home in Kearny, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, April 16 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny, at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday, April 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Elvira was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and lived in New York City and Bayonne, NJ before moving to Kearny over 5 years ago.

She worked in the Housekeeping Department at Christ Hospital in Jersey City for 35 years before retiring in 2009.

She is survived by her children, Steven Cascio (Mary Duffy), Lynne Gallagher (Steve), Rickie Plumer (Frederick Stein) and Richard Plumer (Elizabeth Colonna); by one sister, Catherine Smith (William, deceased) and one brother, Edward Gaeta (Estela Lopez) She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Elvira was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Ann Cascio and one son, Louis Cascio and two brothers, Francis and Michael Gaeta.
