Antonio Manteiga, 72, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at his home in Kearny, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family funeral home on Friday October 26th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm & 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
Mr. Manteiga was born in Puentecesures, Spain and immigrated to the United States in 1969. He lived in the Bronx, NY and then Astoria, NY before moving to Kearny in 1985.
He served in the Spanish Navy, was a merchant seaman, and he opened several restaurants in New York/New Jersey.
He loved his wife and family deeply. Nothing made him happier than spending time with them. His other passion was cooking and making a delicious pitcher of sangria.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Manteiga; two children Eliane and Jason, their spouses Finlay and Jannet; siblings Maria Carmen Manteiga, Jose Manteiga and Alfredo Manteiga. He was the grandfather of Alexandra, Evan and Isabel Manteiga and Maxwell Antonio Crowther.
