Anna Callaghan (nee Harvie), 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Gates Manor, Montclair, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. A funeral mass will be offered in St. Cecilia R.C. Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Anna was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1956. In 1963 she came to the United States. She lived in Kearny for 30 years before moving to Nutley, NJ in 2001.

Mrs. Callaghan was a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Xavarian Guild and the St. Cecilia’s seniors both of Kearny.

She was employed by Bell Telephone, later Verizon for over 25 years and was a proud member of IBEW Local 827 in East Windsor, NJ. During her time at Verizon, Anna was one of the first women to enter the world of working in a man’s field; she referred to it as a “traditional” job.

She traveled the world with her beloved sister Cathy (Robin) and her grandson Patrick Eamon. Anna loved bus trips to Atlantic City and vacationing with her family in the Wildwoods.

She is survived by 5 children, Patrick (Rosemary), Mark, Edward (Julie), Sean (Tina), Anne Marie Frame; sister, Cathy Lyons (Robin) She was the grandmother of Patrick Eamon, whom she raised, Patrick Stephen, Ashlee, Jennifer, Faith, Edward, Maggie and Patrick. Anna was the great grandmother of Monica.  She is also survived by her sister Cathy Lyons (Robin) and a niece and two nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward Callaghan; one sister, May Smith and one brother, Edward Harvie.
