Ana Mendez, (nee Perez), 78 passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 in St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark, NJ,

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Friday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Newark at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Mendez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She has lived in Newark for the last sixty years.

Ana is survived by her daughters, Emelinda Mendez, Marisol Mendez, Daly Zamora, Sandra Kossup and Alicia Walker; five sisters, Iraida, Aida, Hilda, Annie and Emma Velez and one brother, Juan Velez. She was the grandmother of Anisa, Ashley, Matthew and Jenna Walker, Crystal and Christina Zamora and Selena and Sabrina Kossup and the great-grandmother of Rey Graciano.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ruben Mendez.
