Rita Murray

Rita (nee Fresco) Murray of Kearny, New Jersey passed away on Friday April 19, 2024, at her residence with her loving and devoted family at her side. She was 77 years old.

Rita was born on April 13,1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Mary (nee Crosson) Fresco and Anthony Fresco. She had lived in Jersey City for several years prior to moving to Kearny in 1970.

Rita was renowned for unbelievable selflessness and always making others comfortable. Rita cherished her grandchildren and loved to cook family meals in her immaculate home. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with their friends and family. An anniversary cruise and a trip to Italy were two of their favorites. Rita was a member of the Kearny Book Club and enjoyed Yoga at the Kip Center in Rutherford, N.J. She was a fan of Barbra Streisand, Hallmark movies, and Jeopardy.

Rita was the devoted wife for 55 years to Edward L. Murray;  mother of Kim Leto & her husband Joseph and Keith Murray and his wife Michele; grandmother of Tristan Leto, Gianna Murray and Makayla Murray; dear sister of Genevieve Healy, the late Veronica Maresca, and  the late Marie Mongelli.

Visitation will be held at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Wednesday April 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday April 25th at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Kearny.
