Maria (Scala) Glezman

Maria Glezman, (nee Scala), 65, of Kearny, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.

Maria was born to Genero and Joan (nee Crucili) Scala on May 29, 1952. She grew up as one of five children in the town of Fairview, NJ and attended Cliffside Park High School where she developed a life-long passion for the written word. A voracious reader and seeker of knowledge, she was also enamored with classic films and opera music. She will be remembered as a devoted friend, a beloved mother and a woman of great strength.

Maria is survived by her daughters,  Bonnie Cousins and her husband, Roel, Gillian Dionisio and her husband, Anthony and Joellen Masiello and her husband, Joseph;  four siblings, Andrew, Philip, Bernadette and Gina Scala.  She also leaves behind 6 beloved grandchildren and a seventh due in December.

In accordance with Maria’s final wishes the cremation of her remains will take place privately on Monday, April 2, 2018.

 Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Maria’s life at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Humane Society (americanhumane.org) or to the North Shore Animal League (animalleague.org) as Maria was both a lover of animals and an advocate for their welfare.
