John “Jack” J. McGuire, 88 passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be offered in St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

John was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He moved to Kearny in 1963 and lived there until moving to Long Branch, NJ 17 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. McGuire was a Printer for Prudential in Newark NJ for over 50 years before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Amalgamated Lithographers Union Local 1, New York City. John was also a member of the Irish American Association, Kearny and the Disabled American Veterans and also the Wednesday Wobblers.

He is survived by his children, Bridget Carson, Roseann McGonigal, Helen McGuire and John McGuire; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Cain); his son Lawrence McGuire and his sister Dorothy McGuire.
