Emma Valdes (nee Fernandez), 95, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.  Interment will follow at The Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.

Mrs. Valdes was born in Gijon, Spain then immigrated to Cuba with her family at two years of age. In 1960 she came to The United States and lived in Brooklyn for 30 years before moving to Hialeah, FL where she lived for 20 years before moving to North Arlington, NJ in 2010.

While in Brooklyn, she was a cashier for F.W. Woolworth & Co. in Williamsburg, for 25 years.

She is survived by her son, Edward Valdes and his wife, Elizabeth.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hernan Valdes and her sister, Rita Pedrozo.
